How serious are you about
your music career?
The reason I ask is that every year thousands
of artists will send me their CDs with either
a letter or a follow up phone call, where they
state or claim they want a deal with a major
label. When I ask them if they are willing to
do the necessary work to get the record deal
they believe they want, they all try to convince
me that they will do whatever it takes. When
I outline what needs to be done and the required
amount of work needed, most say I just want
a deal. I don't want to do all this work!
Unfortunately most artists are guiding their
careers by the "misperceptions" and
incomplete information they have received from
other artists who either haven't accomplished
their own goals or have some minor exposure
in their home city, which makes other artists
believe they are really doing well.
The reality of the music business is this.
Major labels or other companies in the industry
that you are interested in being signed with
or partnering with care about one thing, CD
sales. You are an artist in an industry where
your career is not defined based upon how good
your songs are but how many thousands or millions
of CDs you sold. While it is important that
you write good songs and perform them well,
whether or not you get signed or you get to
release more than one record on a major comes
down to if you sold enough CDs to make everyone
happy.
With that said, if you are serious about learning
how to be an artist who will not only be able
to sell thousands or millions of CDs but have
a career in this business for the next 20 years
and you are willing to do the work necessary
and invest in yourself, then send me a CD letting
me know that and I will listen to it personally.
Take it from the person who is the consultant
to major label Presidents, CEOs, Vice Presidents
of A&R, Marketing and Promotion, if you
want a "Priority" record deal or even
if you don't want a deal but want to quit your
day job and do your music full time, what you
do right now as an independent artist will define
how others in the industry will deal with you.
If you are serious about your music and are
willing to do the work necessary and invest
in yourself, I would like to invite you to review
the Services section
and see what TSA can offer you. Then send me
your CD.
